Using a scanner in C#

Hi,
For a project I need to scan images from a scanner using my program
(and ofcourse C#).
I need to scan the image and if it has a poor quality improve it's
quality.
Does anyone know how to do this (free)?
Thanks in advance.

TWAIN is the most common standard for doing this. See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWAIN

To interact with the Windows TWAIN API from C# have a look here:
