wcf suitable ?

Hi there,

I am writing a media library application, my intention is to have this
piece of software run as a service. Other software would send requests
to it (basically inserting and retreiving information from a database).

I would like to have the communication as open as possible, but speed is
also an issue.

I am keen to do it like this to make writing plugins for media players
easier, what is the easiest platform for application inter-operation ?.

What would be the best way to approach this ?, bear in mind that I only
expect the media library daemon/service/whatever to be accessed locally
on a single computer to begin with.

Andy help appreciated.
