select a database as the DataSource

Hello!

I use VS 2005.

A Datasource can be a Database, Web Service or an Object.
So I select Data->Add New Data Source in the menu. In the dialog data Source
Configuration Wizard I choose Database.

When being asked about Choose Your Data Connection I click New Connection.

In this dialog "Choose Data Source" I have several alternatives but there
are two here that I want to know what they mean.

I wonder what is the difference between these two alternatives
"Microsoft SQL Server" and "Microsoft SQL Server Database File".
I have read the description but I don't understand fully what they mean.
The first one is saying this in the description " Use this selection to
connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005
using the .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server". This sounds
understandable.
The second one is saying this in the description "Use this selection to
attach a database file to a local Microsoft SQL Server
instance(including Microsoft SQl Express) using the .NET Framework Data
Provider for SQL Server"

So can somebody explain the difference between these two?

I've never done this before, but based on the messages, I would expect that
the second option allows you to specify a .MDF file (the underlying SQL
database file) which will then be imported into an existing instance of SQL
Express or SQL Server. By imported, I mean, it will create the necessary
metadata in the master database to allow you to access that imported
database.

This is just a guess, but it makes sense to me.
