anyone have any idea why there have been (at least) 82 VS 2008 post-release
messages here on the C# board but only 5 on the VB.NET board; are the VB
crowd just not interested??
strikes me as a significant difference but I'm not sure what to make of it
.... 11 1340
There seem to be two equally plausable alternatives:
1 - C# developers are cutting edge folks, while the VB guys are lazy and
still focused on VB6.
2 - C# people here have no lives, and even during Thanksgiving week continue
to do work related stuff.
It's gotta be option 1.
I, for one, know, for sure, that I don't fall into category two. Nope. Not
me.

When I saw her question, I thought the first option actually, and had
you not stated it, was going to post it.
So yeah, option 1.
Also, to Chris:
It's really annoying!
Why not?
Don't top post.

As Chris says, surely it can't be because we in the C# newsgroup have
nothing better to do. :)
For what it's worth, as far as I know there's no major language upgrade
in 2008 for VB.NET, but there is for C#. So perhaps that's at least
part of the difference.

A combination of:
* more C# users than VB.NET users
* people that went from C++ or VB6 to C# are probably more interested in
big changes than people that went from VB6 to VB.NET
* one thread becoming "hot" and result in a lot of posts
would be my explanation.

I also believe it is partly because C# is the more "up-to date"
language, and so C# developers tend to care about changes and using the
most recent development tools/environments.
It's purely because the ones reading the VB.NET, saw no need to repond to
what amounted to an announcement and no-one saw any need to re-tell people
what they already new.
I really couldn't believe the number of seperate threads with variations on
the same announcement that showed up in here.

it's what happens when people are excited about an event, Stephany ... which
was palpable in this group ... and so I wondered why a group of VB
developers would not share some of the same excitement
you see the same sort of thing at sporting events, disaster sites and so on
.... people saying the same thing repeatedly to one another ... suits me; it
tells me people are alive, awake and still capable of authentic expression
I'll hazard a guess that there are more mountain climbers and sky divers in
the C# camp than in the VB camp

Yeah. You certainly wouldn't catch me doing C#-related stuff outside
working hours. Pah!

No, VB9 has most of the features of C# 3 as well - more, in fact, as it
has XML literals as well. (Its lambda expressions aren't as fully
featured, however.)

I remember seeing *two* announcement threads here - they rapidly moved
from the announcement to other questions around 2008.
How many announcement threads did you see?
