Drawing Multiple Transparent Usercontrols

Hi,
I have created a custom transparent control that I need to late bind
multiple times and add to a PictureBox control. I am doing this all ok but
with a problem. The cpu usage goes sky high when the control is added to the
PictureBox ( sometimes as many as 50).
The custom control simply displays an icon and allows a tooltip to show when
hovered over. - I thought about using the GDI and just draw the icon, this
works much better but know I have the problem of assigning a ToolTip to that
region because I do not have a control handle. Can anyone offer a suggestion
please.

TIA.
James
