You've probably sorted this by now, but I had the same problem as you. With a checked listview, I didn't want double-clicking an item to change the checkbox, I just wanted the ItemActivated event handler to run.

Copy the class into a new file in your project, then in your form change the class of listview1 to MyListView. In the designer change the DoubleClickDoesCheck member of listview1 to false. You'll also need to allow unsafe code (open the project properties, go to Configuration Properties then Build, and change Allow Unsafe Code Blocks to true.
