A hypothetical competition

Java and C# are launched on the same day.
Both are platform independent.
Both are closed source to start with.
Both are free.

Which one would you choose?

Which one would you choose?
That would depend on:
1) Tools
2) Developer experience available
3) What I wanted to do
4) Which had the more promising roadmap
