Deployment & compatibility

P: n/a
Hi,
I have used msi to create an installed program(version 4.2) on my
computer. This program can create project file(.ws),just like the visual
C#.net. And now I have deploied new version(4.3) of this program. But what
the problem is that when I double-click the new project file(extension .ws),
it is still opened by version 4.2 ,not the 4.3.
why? how to let version 4.3 become current program?

Hi,

Did you completely uninstall 4.2 before installing 4.3?

I assume you are using a Visual Studio Setup and Deployment project to
create the .msi. You may want to enable "DetectNewerInstalledVersion" and
"RemovePreviousVersions" in the Properties window for your setup project so
that when it's installed it will first uninstall all previous versions of
the software.

Hi,
Thank you for your advice. I do use Visual Studio Setup and Deployment
project ,but I really want to make two version coexist, that means when you
double-click version 4.2's project file,it will be opened by 4.2. And for
version 4.3's project file,it will be opened by 4.3.

Is it possible? If it is , how to do it?
