.NET Developers

mon
Hi folks,

We need an experienced .NET developer (ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server). I put
an ad on monster a couple of weeks ago but did not get any promising
resumes so far. Is there a good source for recruting .NET developers?
TIA.

Heh. I'm that, but I live in the Orlando area and I'm not that interested in
moving somewhere else. You didn't say anything about where you are, how much
you are willing to pay, or much else. Is your Monster listing like that too?
Cheers

You could also try dice.com. I found your ad and the salary range is not
going to get you top notch employees unless it includes free medical and
perhaps a 401K which your ad did not mention.

I agree that the OP should have stated a location, after all this is a
worldwide group :-)

However, the savvy ones amongst us would have copied the domain from the
e-mail address and found the company is in Florida, USA.

Not here. This is place for asking technical questions. Not recruiting.

Just by the fact that he didn't state where he is, I deducted he was in
the US ;-)

Of course, we *really* savvy and experienced Rightpondians assumed
that the lack of location meant it was a Leftpondian job and looked no
further.

Hmm, we are based in Orlando too. I'll email you off the list.

You guys are too funny.

Since this is a technical forum, my intention was to inquire about a
good place to advertise the job rather than actually advertising it
here, thus I did not mention the location or any other job details.

Anyway those of you who did some investigation on their own are right,
we are in beautiful Orlando, FL.

Of course with the power of the Internet the location might not be
critical. My best developer (MS MVP and MCP) is actually working for
me from Izmir, Turkey!

How does that work w.r.t labour laws and taxes?

Here's why I am asking : I'm a Canadian living in USA.
I don't have any sort of work permit and therefore I can't work.
I can't even get an american social security number.
So how can you send work out overseas ?
Does your person in Izmir, Turkey pay american income
taxes?

That's a very good question. As a British national, I found I was
unable to do a small consultancy job in the US (a few days at most, t
o train some programmers up to speed on some source code that i had
written), I was unable to obtain the necessary visa because I would be
"taking away American jobs". But it seems OK to export large chunks of
the US IT industry altogether?

I dont know about Canada but in the UK contractors work through their own
company, so in this case the Orlando outfit would pay my company for my
services, my company would then pay me wages, so I would not be employed by
anyone in the US. The Orlando company would simple be bying a service from a
UK company.
