SAN Server check

Dear Sir

I have a windows service that does a job which is related to checking files
on SAN.
I want to run the job only when SAN is available. as sometimes SAN goes
off/down for maintainance or anything. SAN is windows 2003 server.

what's the best method for putting check for SAN avaialbility ?
i am using c#.
