COMException 0x80072029 : received when accessing Domino via DirectoryServices

P: n/a
I'm using System.DirectoryServices to access a Domino LDAP server.
When I get a failed authentication, I usually see this:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException 0x8007052E: "Logon failure:
unknown user name or bad password.\r\n".

Suddenly, I'm seeing this: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException
0x80072029: "Inappropriate authentication" SOMETIMES when I'm testing
with an invalid password. Anyone have an idea why. I've searched for
0x80072029 but found nothing at all.
