How many characters are on a standard console?

Well, the default Windows XP console seems to be 80x25, but this can be
anything the user specifies.

The original (a VT terminal) is 80 x 24 and I belive
the 80 goes back to punched cards and the 24 was just DEC's
choice.

A Windows XP command prompt is default 80 x 25, but you can
change it.
