New again to the Expression Suite

I have finally, after a year, got the go ahead to start work on a new
prototype application for my company. We are looking to build an next
generation application that is drastically different than anything our
competition. This new application is going to look very futuristic, think
Star Trek LCARs interface. I plan to have a lot of questions, in the next
couple of weeks, but my first hurdle to overcome is the interaction between
the E. Graphic Designer and Interactive Designer. I am not a graphic
designer and our graphic designer is tied up with another project, so I am
go to have to learn EGD myself. Here is my question I have created a
content in EGD of two connected rectangles and exported the content as XAML.
Could someone explain or point me to a tutorial on how to now get and use
this in EID. What I am trying to do is build the graphic in EGD then
combine that graphic with buttons or list boxes to create a new control with
the desired look.
