You have to think about the requirements, and what tools will be required to
fulfill them. As Carom is a game that involves physics, you will want to
study up on the physics involved in the action of the balls or disks. It
will need to be animated, and simulate the actions of the balls or disks
travelling, striking, and rebounding visually. This would indicate the use
of DirectX to create your interface. As it is played on a flat surface, you
have the choice of simulating 3D, or going with real 3D drawing, using
Direct3D. There is a managed version of Direct3D available, which comes with
an SDK, complete class libraries, and tutorials, articles and sample codes.
