ClickOnce - why is an old version of my app installed??

I have published an application on my localhost using ClickOnce. I
chose "The application should check for updates" - "Before the
application runs".

Everything works fine, if I publish a new version the installed
application detects it and performs the update.

The problem is that if i run it from Start > Programs > My App Name, an
old version of the application shows up - the same old version, no
matter how many times i un-install, install again, or how many times it
updates itself automatically. The same happens if I publish to a
folder, then install it again from there. What is wrong here?
