Well, that depends on what you're after. Are you already a C#
developer who wants to improve, or are you starting from scratch? Do
you already know about the framework and want to know more about C# as
a language, or are you after the complete bundle?

In that case, I feel reasonably justified in plugging my own book.
It's not released yet, but you can buy an Early Access copy, which
will be regularly updated with new content - you then get a copy of
the complete book when it's finished.

See http://manning.com/skeet for more details.

At the risk of sounding like a cheerleader, it's one hell of a book!

There are topics in there that I thought I knew very, very well.

.... sadly I was informed, via Jon's book, in no uncertain terms, that these
topics go deeper than I had ever though.

I actually like this one:

http://www.campusbooks.com/books/9780321245663/
Effective C#: 50 Specific Ways to Improve Your C# (Effective Software
Development)
But I'm eager to get Jon's book as well, now that I know about it.
Outside of C#, I think this is a good list:

http://steve.emxsoftware.com/Books+f...ammer+beginner

From that list, I have and recommend:

*** The Pragmatic Programmer

** Refactoring

*** Pragmatic Unit Testing with NUnit

*** Head First Design Patterns

If it's any consolation, it's been the same sort of journey for me,
too. And even though I go into a fair amount of depth, it's not like
the book's completely exhaustive - there's plenty of places where I
basically say, "If you need to know the *exact* behaviour, go read the
spec."

It's certainly a big topic.

Thank you for plugging your book here. I would not have known about it
otherwise. So I just signed up today and received the PDF. This is great
stuff! Thanks for taking the time and care to write this.

Can I presume that is a picture of YOU on the cover?... handlebar mustache,
wearing a dress, and playing an early banjo? Nice! That's worth the price of
admission right there!

My pleasure - literally. It's been great fun to work on. Admittedly
I've lost rather a lot of sleeping time...

LOL, no that's not me, cool as it would be. On the other hand, maybe I
should try a photoshop job with it at some time...
