I would like to know which protocol and solution is better for
replication over internet: FTP, Web Services, TCP?
Application need to replicate data in every 5 minutes interval.
Application is supposed to be worked in any multitude database systems.
Thanks in advance for tips, links and idea.
It depends.
FTP has the advantage that it doen't need your app to be running and the
disadvantages that it doesn't know if it is running and you must configure
your ftp service. Also it is very easy to set up a separate service to FTP
the files independently of the originator which can be good if the target is
offline when the files are generated.
Web services have the advantage of being open which may allow for simpler
testing.
TCP will be fastest.
If your database supports replication itself then that is the way to go.
It also depends very much on what you are replicating and whether it is one
way or two way.
