Highlight a column in a dataviewgrid?

P: n/a
I am having a little trouble highlighting a column in a grid. Basically, I
have 7 columns, one for each day of the week and I need some way of
highlighting "today".
I tried this (if the column is indeed tagged with today's date):

dViewWeek.Columns[i].HeaderCell.Style.ForeColor = Color.Red;

but it doesn't appear to do anything, my header cell text is still black.
Same happens if I set the BackColor, they stay the same 3d button grey.
Any ideas?
Or even alternative methods of highlighting a column - it doesn't have to be
a text changing thing. I tried making the divider thickness more on the
correct column plus the one previous to it, but this doesn't work for the
leftmost column (only highlights the right side, the left side that butts up
against the row headers is as normal)
