object selection (Graphics)

I need a selection on a graphic. E.g. I want to select from 500000
small objects (rectangles) e.g. 20.I want that only the selection will
be redrawn, not all 500000 objects.

left click, rectangle (circle and line) appear en grows when you move
the mouse

How can I do that?
