C# Client and webservice give an XML document error.

I have a COM dll, that I am using through an interop for my webservice
in .NET. Essentially I have wrapper web methods in my webservice that
I call
for the dll functions. All the methods seem to work fine except one.

This method, returns the "There is an error in XML document (1,478).
Another weird issue is that : when I step into the web method from my
C# client app the value of the first param is zero no matter what I
pass. All other params are passed ok. How do resolve this and how
would I look at the XML messages being sent and received.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
