What is the 'alpha' part of the color? All the documentation seems to say
the alpha field is the alpha value.

So what's the alpha value.

TIA - Jeff.

UJ,

Alpha is the transparency of the color. 255 is fully opaque where 0 is fully
transparent.

I've always thought this is slightly odd - surely it should be called
its opacity if the higher the number is, the *less* transparent it is.

Well, you might be right. This is the term I'm used to though. Opacity or
transparency the end result is the same - it controls color's translucency
:)

"translucent" means that it lets light through, but diffusing it so
that the things behind are no longer clearly visible.

So Alpha doesn't control translucency at all -- it merely controls
transparency.
