ADO.Net query

Hi,
I am trying to dynamically link the value of one comboBox at
runtime to determine the list of entries in the another combo box.
(something like, when u select state = CA, the other comboBox will only
display cities which have the state value in the database as CA.).

I am trying to pass the parameter (ID which is int) in the following
query in SqlDataAdapter:

SELECT r_id, city FROM RETURNADDRESS CROSS JOIN CUSTOMER WHERE
(CUSTOMER.CUST_ID = @param1)

And on the selectedvalueChange event of the first comboBox,
sqlDataAdapter2.SelectCommand.Parameters["@param1"].Value =
comboBox1.ValueMember;
sqlDataAdapter2.Fill(dataSet21);

But this gives me an error which says, "input string Not in correct
format".

can anyone help?
