VCSharp 2005 and solution configurations

I have been working with VCSharp 2005 (the freebie) and was about to compile
my little project for release when I noticed that the solution configuration
drop down is always greyed out.

I checked the supplied help file, but it says to use the solution
configuration drop down or the project properties pages to change the compile
mode. Needless to say no such drop down exist on the properties page and the
toolbar drop down

How do I/Can I actually compile something in release mode?
