Stepping Through Code Not Included in Solution

Is there some way to leverage the pdb file so the users of my framework
will be able to step through the base class code and, therefore, not
have to reference the framework project in their solution?

If they will have access to source code and suitable pdb file, then it is possible. However, then 'Framework' must be built with sources on shared resource ( bad way ) or every user has to build the 'Framework' to obtain valid pdb file

Hi Vadym,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm OK with them having access to the source file. I just don't want
them to have to include it in their solution.

So, if I have a pdb file and source file somewhere, how do I tell the
IDE to step through the external source file's code?

Thanks again,
Coder

Users can build separate assembly with pdb, then reference that assembly from their project, and thats it... ( there may be issues with 'copy local' property )

Pdb file has the info for the debugger where to look for the sources.
The only tricky moment here is to have correct path in the pdb file. And the path in the pdb file is set by the compiler that builds the assembly.
