Posting data to the default browser

Ok, I have developed an app that needs to load a search page in a web
browser, but that data needs to be posted, rather than just have
..aspx?something=&something2=& etc.... I have found the code to be able
to do this if I want it to show in IE, but I don't want to be
constrained to just using IE. Is there a way of doing it so that it
opens the user's default browser. What I'm using at the moment is the
example taken from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815724/en-us if it
helps. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated.
