Software deployment Liscensing

Hello,

I have built a couple of Active Directory administration tools that I
plan to sell over my website. I was planning on making a "Full" version
for people who purchase the software, and a "Demo" version which is a
completely seperate assembly that is stripped down so noone can take a
demo version and crack it into a full version.

My main question is this:
What tools does VS2005 have to allow me to apply a "activation" keycode
in my software. I don't want to give someone a full version, and then
they turn around and give it to a dozen of their friends without me
knowing.

I planned on giving them a "Full" version and then once they run the
software for the first time, it will give them an URL (to my website)
for them to enter in their activation code and it gives them the serial
to enter to unlock the software.

Does anyone have examples/articles to attempt to accomplish what it is
i am trying to do?

Thank you

Sean

I always worry that when I need to reload the software because my hard drive
died, the company I bought it from will be out of business and render my
purchase useless.

this is true, this is why i am thinking to not lean towards an
"activation" server, maybe just a server to log unsuccessfull
liscensing attempts, then if the server doesnt exist it wont disable
them from entering a serial number.
