XML serialization beginner question

Hi all,

I know how to serialize and deserialize a single class, but is it
possible to serialize multiple classes in one file?
For example, I have a baseclass, and 3 derived classes. These classes
are stored in a List<> of base class type. I'd like to be able to
serialize all the classes present in List<> in the same file.
I've tried using a different serializer for each class type, and this
saves them to the file, but I'm not sure the result is valid xml, or if
it is, how I would deserialize the classes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paul.
