Off topic monitor question

WRH
Happy holidays everyone!
I know this is off topic but this is a pretty sharp group...

Santa will be bringing me a new wide format monitor which
has lots of room to display windows side by side. The
thought occured to me however that it would be even nicer to
have two independent desktops side by side. Is this or
something like it possible with Windows XP?
(There is support in XP for multiple monitors but not,
as far as I know, multiple display streams to one monitor)

Given the choice, I would never work without multiple monitors again. While
I'm working on an XP Pro machine I don't use any of its support for multiple
monitors as I would presume XP to provide the "Notepad Edition" as compared
to features that would be provided with vendor provided software supported
on the video card.
