ListView Designtime ImageList enumeration?

For example, the ListView.SmallImages property. Anybody know the Property
Grid enumerates available imagelists for that? Does it iterate through all
the components looking to see if the class is "ImageList", or does it look
for all components and test to see if it has a specific attribute? The
reason I ask is that I was wondering if I could create my own ImageList
component and "trick" the standard components to "see" me at design time.
