Strange IsReady results from DriveInfo

While using DriveInfo.GetDrives() I ran into a strange thing where the
IsReady property would be true for a memory card reader attached to my
computer via USB2. The thing is, there are no cards in the reader and
an attempt to get the current drive space and total space results in a
30-45 second hang in the method call.

I've tested this against my desktop and laptop so I'm trying to figure
out is this an issue with the card reader in question somehow signaling
that the drive is ready when in fact, it's not, or is there an issue
with the .IsReady property and USB drives?
