Best Patterns to interact with COM objects

Hi,

We have an application developed on .Net using C#. Our application uses
the Microsoft Excel as User interface and based on the values supplied by
the user in the excel our application runs (through excel add-in) and
displays the results back in excel. My main concern his we need to do some
calculations based on the user input and neeed to display the results back.
So we do our calculations in .Net and we prepare a string concatenated with
values to display in excel. In the excel add-in we splits the values and
display in excel.

And when a user changes any value then we are handling the SheetChange
event of Excel application in our application and retrieve the latest value
and update our .net class objects. In this way, most of time is consumed
just to display values in excel and to get the modified value by user. So i
would like to have some suggestions to improve the performance either by
using any cache operations or any thing which helps me to improve the
performance.
