Google is now doing what I need to...No Border

Some of you may now have the new "Google Talk" (Googles little chat
screen). Very small, no borders does not look like IE at all.
Looks very much like a Web Page though.
How is that if everyone says Microsoft has teathered our creativity to
disallowing any other type of window other than theirs?
Thanks,
Trint

PS - I would be happy to send anyone a screen shot of Google Talk.

trint,

Why do you think that this is IE as opposed to a custom drawn window?

It looks like a web page because it was rendered that way, not because
it actually is one.

Nicholas,
I know you are right. But that isn't the point. Most computers
running only windows apps are still just as connected to the internet
as those running webforms...Why do we loose designing privaledges with
webforms...sorry, maybe I'm needing this worse than most.
Thanks,
Trint

What you are talking about is a Chromeless Window - which was a blunder to
be allowed in IE 5.5 but thank god they disabled it. Can you imagine all
those windows that look like "Your PC is infected, click Yes or No to clean
it and install my spyware" - Can you imagine how real those would look if
they were Chromeless?

Trint,

That's always been the case. Web forms are in HTML, HTML is meant to be
used on many platforms, not just windows. Because of that, the amount of
functionality that you are going to get using HTML is going to be very
limited.

Hi,

AFAIK google talk is a win app, since the first time you posted about this
issue we have been telling you that it's not the same a win app than a web
app, with a win app you can do anything, including irregular forms.
With a web app, you are forced to work with what the browser provide, what
if your users instead of IE start using, Opera, or Mozilla?

It has not as much to do with MS as with the features of the platform.

cheers,

Ignacio,
That is a really good answer. I am glad that all you pro's are out
there just in case I really get in a rut here.
Thanks,
Trint
