Strips and visual Inheritance

I created a form in VS 2005 to use it as parent in one of my projects. I
placed a TollStripContainer, a MenuStrip and a ToolStrip. Even though I
changed the modifier property to "public" and the members in the form
are declared as public, i cannot change any of their properties nor
add/remove tools in the inherited forms. Also, if i hover my mouse over
the components i get the tooltip "Inherited control (private)"

I also use a tabcontrol, which functions properly in the inherited
forms. Couple of more intel on this:

1. This happens with ToolStripContainer, MenuStrip, ToolStrip,
StatusStrip and SplitPanel controls.
2. I get the same results for any possible values in the modifier property.

Any ideas ???

Hi John,

we have exact the same Problem using the vs2005 release. Could you solve
this strange behavior in visual inheritance ?

thank you in advance for a answer

I was having this problem and then I read somewhere that the strips do not
support visual inheritance. You can however modify their behavour and
apperance in code.

This is a disign issue in the IDE I believe.

Hope this helps.
