int to string

Given this:

string s;
int i = 0;

why does this work:

s = "Hello" + i;

but this doesn't:

s = i;

Hi John,

why does this work:

s = "Hello" + i;
This works because the IL code generated by the compiler is calling
String.Concat(object, obect)

which internally will call the ToString() method on both the object
parameters, therefore returning a string from the i integer instance.

but this doesn't:

s = i;
This will not work because they are two different types and cannot be
implicitly coverted, unlike an int to a long where no data could be lost this
is not true of the above statement so it is an error.
