Is there a way to run the onvalidating event for a control?

P: n/a
I know that I can get it to run but setting the focus to that control, and
then to another control that causes validation, but I'm wondering if I can
trigger that event for a control without using focus.

I found the answer to my own question (which also solves the problem of
watching the cursor go from field to field when using the focus method of
triggering the validating event for each field on the form):
