Extremely slow setup of debug environment

On a 3GHz computer with XP service pack 2 (and before service pack 2) with 1
gb ram, I experience a very long time (30-45 sec.) for VS to setup a debug
version environment. On my laptop ( a 1.4GHz centrino thing with 512 mb ram)
it only takes half the time!!??.

I think these long debug setup times started when I included references to
MS word in my app, if this could be an explanation I don't understand why
this does not affect the performance on my laptop to same degree.

In both release- and debug mode (ones its up and running) I goes very fast
and I do not experience any performance issues

My program counts around 50,000 lines.

Are there any network issues here?. My laptop is only connected to my home
network while my stationary 3GHz machine is connected to a somewhat bigger
