Trapping Appliation Exit

Hi,
I have a windows application. This application spawna a thread and
this thread waits a long time. If while this thread is active I try to
close the main form window(by Clicking "X"), the Form.Closing event is
not trapped. I can trap the Application.ApplicationExit in this thread
but cannot cancel the application shut down.
I have been working on this problem for some time now. I'll be
gratefull for any help.
