Did microsoft invent their own unit of time?

I'm installing the dot net framework and it was stuck on "Time remaining: 6
seconds" for a while so I started to time it. After 25 seconds it went up
and said it had 10 seconds remaining. It's now just finished another 3
minutes later. Is there such thing as a Microsoft second??

Michael,

I don't think so, however sometimes there can be of course a kind of error,
by instance a hardware error, what gives wrong measurements. That is even
possible with the oldest analogue clocks when a wheel is broken while the
pointer goes very slow.

Just my thought,

Don't worry Cor.

You have to start learning about words like 'irony', 'satire' and 'sarcasm'.

Don't worry Cor.

You have to start learning about words like 'irony', 'satire' and
'sarcasm'.

What do those words mean?

Thanks everyone for the replies, I forgot to check this thread until now.
Does anyone know if there is a formula for converting between a Microsoft
Second(tm) and a plain old vanilla second?

There is such a thing as trying to estimate how long something will take,
and having it turn out different than estimated.

If you then revise your estimate on the basis of how long the step actually
took, you can get the kind of alternately increasing and decreasing
estimates that you describe.
