MDI Window, Children

Hi all
I designed a menu that has menuitems to work for the MDIparent and children
as well,
I want to build a mechanism to deal with this situation, HAS anyone done
this before ...

Brief:
I want to be able to know if there is any children active or not {I try
haschildren and the getupperbound: didn't work properly} so to take the
correct actions ....

thanks in advance
