installing Visual Studio .NET on XP Pro system

installing Visual Studio .NET on XP Pro system:

I have the 6 CDs and I'm about ready to install. My system has
already been updated with the high priority and optional updates,
including service pack 1,2 and framework stuff (so I could run C#
executables at home).

Would that cause a problem? Would the 6 setup CDs by any chance
revert the updates to the old versions.

I rebuilt my machine when SP2 for XP came out and installed all the patches
for XP first, then installed Visual Studio .Net with no problems. It didn't
appear to revert anything back.

Did you have the optional Framework .NET Windows update already
installed?

SP1? As far as I know my system was fully "up to date" before installing
anything.
