Creating a control

Hey everyone I've spent the last week developing a paging solution so as I
can navigate sucessfully through a datagrid. Using all of the following: -
Page Numbers
First and Last Page
Next and Previous Page
Next 5 and Previous 5 pages.

The navigation has been taken well and it was suggested that I turn it into
some sort of control so as I can re-use the same type of navigation by
dropping it into other projects. I've never did anything like this before
and was wondering if anyone knew of any good examples of how web controls are
created. I'm not even sure if it should be something like a composite
control (if there is such a thing).

Can anyone advise me on if this is a good idea, as opposed to copying and
pasting code across projects and editing it. What kind of control would I
need to develop so as I can do this? Where would I start etc.

Any help at all would be very grateful.

Yes it is a good idea to create a control to eliminate redundant code across
a project (or several projects for that matter). You should consult the
asp.net newsgroup for more answers on web controls but for starters you can
check out the ASP.net quickstart tutorial on custom web controls at
