Encryption

hello,
we have a old backend Service written in VB6
I have Re-written this service using c#

A part of the service uses AspEncrypt from persist software
is there a alternative in c# to get the same affect of the
Aspencrypt com object (activex) .
In the Past ive seen these 3rd party products acually used the microsoft sdk
and just created a activex wrapper

thanks

There are plenty of industry-standard encryption/hashing algorithms
included in the framework, in System.Security.Cryptography; I doubt
any will be side-by-side compatible with AspEncrypt (which leaked like
a sieve last time I used it, btw), but if this is just for
*equivalent* (rather than identical) functionality you should be
spoilt for choice.

I don't know AspEncrypt (based on your statement I assume I should
consider myself lucky !), but either it uses the same well defined
algorithms (DES, 3DES, RC4, AES, RSA, DSA, MD5, SHA-1 etc.) that
..NET does *or* it is time to switch to those algorithms !
