transfer file from domain directory

i am developing an application that should import a file from a active
directory domain drive.
i have tried to use
System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry,
but DirectoryEntry.Children
didn't return anything,
and System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher
produced an error, s.th. like no search allowed on directory...
i am newbie and didn't find much information on google.

Are you sure you are talking about an Active Directory? If you are, check
that you bind using the LDAP provider (LDAP://....).

Files don't live in the active directory. The active directory contains
accounts for people, computers, printers, and other network resources.

Files live in the filesystem.

Google on System.IO.Directory
