Running method from another Form?

If I want to run a process that's within another Form in my MDI (and that
Form is not open), what would be the best way to do this? This child form
will only display a progressbar that'll show the progress of this process,
but this Form doesn't receive any input from the user (it's for display
only). What I currently do is I instantiate this Form and then run the
process:

frm_batchInputCheck frmCheck = new frm_batchInputCheck();
// frm_batchInputCheck only contains a Progressbar and a Close button to
close window. checkRecordsLength updates the progressbar
frmCheck.Show();
frmCheck.checkRecordsLength(openFileDialog_browseI nput.FileName);

Is this the way to do it?
