XML: "Par suplente no válido"

Hola a todos:
Estoy intentando generar un fichero xml Unicode-16 simple, con algunos
elemento con atributo. El caso es que cuando el atributo es un string corto
me funciona, pero con strings muy largos me da este mensaje. Pienso que el
motivo puede ser algun caracter que termina alguna etiqueta.
El caso es que no entiendo el mensaje del error y no encuentro información.
Si es debido a algún caracter especial, ¿como puedo evitarlo?
