dynamic event binding?

i'm trying to create a modular system, and right now i've defined a set of
generic events that each module would need to provide definitons for.
basically, i want a message to come into the system and have a "sorter"
determine to whom the message belongs (by checking the type of the message
object) and then call that person's event. the trick is is that i want to be
able to just drop in modules and not have to do any work on the "sorter".

i've been sort of thinking of something like a lookup hashtable, with the keys
being the type of the message object and the values being the name of the
event to call, but i don't know exactly how to do this in c#. does this
general idea have a technical name, or can someone point me toward some
tutorials on how to do this?

thanks,
pat
