MFC Serialisation verses C#

Hi there

In the past I've used VC++ (MFC) with the Serialise routines for storing my 'Document' to disk but we are now starting to re-develop in C#

Our project revolves around a class which is a mixture of text, ArrayLists and high precision numbers (e.g. lists of 2d 'double' coordinates) and the files could get quite large.

Question 1.
what is the best method for File:Save File:Open using C#.

Question 2
With C++ Serialisation we had difficulty keeping track of versioning. As we changed the data structures we had to add code so that 'old' files would read correctly, is there a way of avoiding this.

Any advice offered will be much appreciated
Phil
