Hosting the CLR in a service

Hi,

I currently have a C# service program. The service is hard core --> thread
pool city and approx 6 million DB inserts per day resulting in multi-terabyte
database size after 1 month. The service is running on a 4 CPU machine with
4 gig of core.

I have been reading about hosting the CLR because I think I could benefit
from using the Server CLR and garbage collector rather than the Workstation
version. Questions:

1) Do I reeallly need to do this - I'd rather not - but it does seem like my
service would be an excellent candidate for the server CLR?

2) If I do this how should I do it from a service? Aka does my service
startup code have to be unmanaged or can my startup shim initialize the CLR
and then load and execute my service executable as the executable stands?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
