job role.

hi
this is the job profile a company is after . the role is for a vb.net / C#
programmer (windows).

"A demonstrated thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
working to methodologies, standards and procedures"
what are the methodologies in .net?
i have used only one pattern - singleton pattern.
i have 12 months experience in .net.
i have seen this kind of requirement very often.
what else should i study to be eligible for this / other similar roles. i
was thinking of maybe uml.?

thnx
yang zing.
