> Hi Larry
I have bought the C# standard edition, because I also just needed the C#
part of Visual Studio.
I have experienced some restrictions in C# standard, it can't connect to a
database on an other computer, and if you plan to develop app for
smartphone, you don't get the smartphone wizard in "New Project" window.
take a look at this link:

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I am using the Standard edition now and it does
everything that I intend to use it for. I am not interested in web,
portable, or database development at all. I am only moving from Visual
Studio 6 C++ game development to C#. I am taking advantage of the Managed
DX9 option too. I have been so sick of pointers that I was either going
back to Delphi or moving forward to C#. I used the 60 day trial of the full
professional VStudio-2003 and bought some books on C#. I like it a lot.
I figure if someday I need the cross language features then I will buy the
VStudio upgrade. Until then, this Standard version works great! I am too
tired of C++ right now to even imagine that though.
Larry.
